PRESIDENTIAL
PHYSICAL  FITNESS  TEST
AWARD  WINNERS
Each student that takes Physical Education at Quincy Jr. High takes part in a series physical fitness tests given semi-annually by the PE Staff.

The key thing to bear in mind regarding these tests is that they are NOT tests of passing or failing.  They are not tests of athletic ability.  They do, however, show each student where they stand on levels of fitness compared to other students their age at the National Level.

The State of Illinois mandates that each 7th grader be tested in a minimum of 5 categories: Abdominal Strength (Situps), Flexibility (Sit & Reach), Agility (Shuttle Run), Endurance (Pacer), and Upper Body Strength
(Pull-ups/Flexed Arm-Hang).

In September, each PE class took part in the first of two rounds of testing.  The post-test will take place in late April to early May.  At the end of the year, each 7th grader will bring home their results from their pre & post-tests.  Their results will be broken down by category.  The report will explain why each test is given, along with suggestions on how to improve in each area.

If a student finishes at the 50th Percentile or Higher on each of the 5 required events; the student will receive recognition as a "National" Award Winner.  To earn a "Presidential" Award, a student would have to finish at the 85th Percentile or Higher on each of the 5 required events.

Regardless where an individuals' scores fall; their effort and improvement is what's important.  These scores will assist us as a staff to better evaluate what we need to do to best help all the students at QJHS.

Listed below is a list (arranged alphabetically) of each 7th Grader that earned a National Award on their pre-test in September.  Despite coming close, No one earned a Presidential Award in September, but everyone will get another chance on the post-test.  Also posted below are the Top 20 Scores on each of the 5 Required Events by the 7th Graders.
